Stretch Mark Cures - Some Home Remedies That Will Improve the Appearance of Stretch Marks

Having a baby is one the most wonderful and fascinating times in a woman's life, developing the stretch marks that typically go along with it, not so much. Not all women will get stretch marks and some will be able to prevent them during pregnancy, but the majority of women who get pregnant -- especially more than once -- will acquire this undesirable scarring, which is quite simply the rupturing of the dermis' middle layer, allowing the skin to stretch and producing the scarring we call so familiar with. If you fit in with the majority of women all across the country who develop these marks you are in luck, there are a number of stretch mark cures that many women use from the comfort of their home that will, in time, diminish, fade, and improve the appearance of the damaged, stretched skin.
Some of the more common stretch mark cures include applying cocoa butter or Shea butter in lotion form multiple times a day... these lotions actually improve the overall elasticity of your skin making it smoother, more even and all around healthier. Since you are going to be applying it to your scarred areas of skin anyway, you should treat your whole body by applying it all over... the additional moisturizing properties in the lotions will have all your skin looking and feeling great. There are many other topical creams and lotions you can apply to help reduce and repair your stretched skin, too. These include creams that contain a substance known as Tretinoin -- which is basically Vitamin A in an acid form. Since this is a chemical compound, it is advised not to use this product while you are pregnant or breast-feeding since side effects to the baby are not known.
Other home remedies that can be used as stretch mark cures include an exfoliating paste made with ground coffee (powdered) and regular lotion -- mix the two together and slather on to stretched skin then wait for a few minutes then wipe off with a warm towel, do this twice a day. Another easy to do home remedy is applying flax-seed oil to the marks after you shower and then again at night before going to bed, this will help diminish their overall appearance. As with any home remedy, though, you should ask your doctor first and be prepared for this to take some time. Considering it is the middle layer of skin you are trying to heal, the process may take a couple of weeks or more.
